Will Marvin’s Decorative Glass Impact Natural Light and Energy Efficiency?

For certain windows of your home, you might not want that traditional see-through glass option you have on the rest of your home. Maybe for this specific window, you want more privacy, something more elegant, or just a different aesthetic.

In this article, I want to answer the questions of whether decorative glass affects natural light and energy efficiency.

Common Concerns of Marvin’s Decorative Glass

Some main concerns when choosing decorative glass include whether you’ll still get all of the natural light you want and if the windows are still energy efficient.

If you have one small window in your bathroom and go for a frosted or obscure decorative glass option, you most likely will be cutting out some of the natural light you get. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes cutting off natural light can really benefit a room, specifically by taking a bit of stress of the eyes. So if your goal is to reduce the amount of light that comes into a room, you have a few options for decorative glass while there are also choices that won’t affect the amount of natural light you get.

The standard glass option is Insulated Glass with Low E2 and argon gas between the panes. So with most decorative glass, you’ll still be maximizing your home’s energy efficiency. You may also be able to experiment with performance glass to boost thermal efficiency even further.
