Should You Replace Your Roof this Fall? Here are a Few Signs it's Time
How do you actually know when you should replace your asphalt shingles? Are there visual signs or performance? Typically, asphalt shingles need to be replaced anywhere from 10 to 20 years depending on the reliability of the installers and the quality of the shingle.
Here are a couple tips to know if it’s time to replace your asphalt shingle roof this fall.
Your asphalt shingles are leaking
One of the more obvious ways to know it’s time to replace your roof is if there are any leaks. With older shingles, this could just happen or time or from any damage the shingles have taken over the years. The problem with leaks is that when water has a way into the home, it can rot out any wood it contacts and can lead to mold growth. This creates health hazards, so you don’t want to get to this point.
You’re not happy with the design
Sometimes the motivation to replace a roof is just in the design update. We have a lot of homeowners who just aren’t happy with their asphalt shingles anymore and want to update to something more modern like standing seam metal. Metal roofs come in a ton of different styles and can range from earthy tones to bright, vibrant colors. Asphalt shingles also just lose their appeal over time. You’ll see the black steaks form and the color weather away. If you’re simply not loving the look of your home anymore, this fall is a perfect time to consider a roof replacement.
